Kim P. Huynh's story is one of perseverance, compassion, and determination. From her early experiences witnessing the injustice of homelessness, to her years of working with children on the autism spectrum, to her creation of the White Ink Clinic and, ultimately, the Tree of Hope Foundation, Kim's journey is one of making a positive impact on the world. Her belief in the power of community and mindfulness, and her commitment to making medical treatment accessible to all, regardless of income or background, is an inspiration to us all. Reading her story is an invitation to learn more about the strength of the human spirit and the transformative power of compassion.

Kim's Story

At a young age, I witnessed a homeless man being ignored by passersby. That moment sparked a deep sense of injustice, and I knew I wanted to do something about it. Without hesitation, I gave the man the dollar that my dad had given me to buy candy, and from that moment on, I knew that I had a purpose in life.

As a student at UCSD, I was fortunate to be trained at the autism laboratory under Laura Schriebman, Ph.D., a student of B.F. Skinner, who developed behavior analysis. This experience paved the way for me to work with children on the autism spectrum for over 14 years. I then became the owner of a preschool center, where I implemented a curriculum based on mindfulness and compassion tailored to children between the ages of 2 and 14.

Through my work, I discovered that raising good people requires more than just loving parents; it takes a team of dedicated community members, including parents, teachers, and neighbors, to put our children's needs first.

For the past ten years, I have devoted myself to my staff and students and raised my own three children. My experience has taught me the meaning of unconditional love and reinforced the importance of serving our community. It's been an incredible journey, and it's not over yet.

This led me to become an Outreach Coordinator for the Department of Healthcare Services (DHCS) and Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS), where I had the honor of working with the inspiring Peter Harbage. His mission to level the playing field for healthcare access for all people, regardless of income or background, left a lasting impression on me. In this role, I learned that obtaining equality for all is not equal. Living a quality life is not a privilege for all but requires countless efforts by many like-minded individuals to achieve this goal for others.

In 2020, I formed the White Ink Clinic in collaboration with Dr. Shirali, a mental health expert who showed me the power of modern technology as an alternative to medication for treating mental health conditions. Our mission was simple: to help people alleviate anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other disorders using the latest technological advancements. It's been a life-changing experience, and I'm proud to say that we've been able to help countless people in need.

Our success led us to create the Tree of Hope Foundation (ToH), based on the core principles of Zen Buddhism.

Our goal is to make medical treatment accessible to all, regardless of one’s income or background.

We believe everyone deserves access to quality healthcare and are committed to making that a reality.
My heroes and role models, including my parents, Peter Harbage and Dr. Shirali, have taught me to stay focused and rise above adversity by achieving success as a team. I learned that the act of selflessness is more fulfilling than winning alone and that the power of like-minded individuals can move mountains. Practicing mindfulness has also taught me to be a better learner and leader.

In essence, I believe that we are all connected and came from the same star. We each have unique qualities that make us shine brighter than others, and those qualities can guide others through the darkness. As we unite to increase the vibration of love and abundance for humanity, my mission and purpose in life are to bring together leaders who are called to serve others. Together, we can create a better world for all.
