Supporting Monasteries Monastic Health Care Fund

We believe that supporting the health and wellness of the monastic community is essential to promoting greater well-being and understanding in our world. Our approach to supporting Zen Buddhist monasteries addresses these communities’ unique healthcare needs and ensures that all members can access the care they need.

Our approach to supporting Zen Buddhist monasteries includes:

  1. Contacting and communicating with monasteries: We actively reach out to Zen Buddhist monasteries to learn about the members' immediate and long-term healthcare needs. Our team works closely with monks and nuns to understand the types of treatment that are needed and barriers to accessing care (including lack of coverage or financial constraints).

  2. Developing wellness programs: We work closely with the monks and nuns managing these facilities to develop wellness initiatives that meet their members’ unique needs. Examples include provider training and additional support for members with chronic physical or mental illnesses.

  3. Monastic Health Care Fund: This fund provides financial support for monastery members who require treatments that are out-of-pocket costs, maybe too expensive, or are otherwise not covered by their insurance.

  4. Education and awareness: We provide resources and support to help members learn more about mental health, chronic illness, and other health-related topics - often by way of workshops and seminars about mental health, wellness, and spirituality.
